Beyoncé announced her new album at the 2024 Super Bowl and dropped two new singles.
The popstar attended the event with her husband Jay-Z and made the announcement during a Verizon commercial.
In the ad, she repeatedly tries to break the internet, by hopping on different trends, streaming, running for 'Beyoncé of the United States' and going to space.
After multiple failed attempts at breaking the internet, she finally says, "Okay, they ready, drop the new music."
Beyoncé later posted a clip on Instagram with the date for her eighth studio album, 29 March, along with title Act II. Her previous album, Renaissance was also dubbed Act I.
Renaissance was released in 2022 and was met with critical acclaim. Six years prior, she released her sixth album Lemonade, which was also applauded by critics and fans.
She later dropped two new country-inspired singles: Texas Hold 'Em and 16 Carriages. The songs are a homage to her Texas roots.
Beyoncé's superstar contemporary Taylor Swift also announced her upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, at the 2024 Grammys, which releases on 19 April.
Last year, the Beyoncé embarked on her successful Renaissance tour, which ran from 10 May 2023 to 1 Oct 2023.
When it finished, the tour grossed $579 million, becoming the highest-grossing tour by a woman artist in history.
However, it was later reported that Swift's Eras tour became the first the tour to cross the $1 billion mark.
