Dolly Parton and Kelly Clarkson have been working 9 to 5 on a hot new take of the classic tune for an upcoming documentary.
The musical duo, along with producer Shane McAnall, have recorded a very different version of the Parton classic that will premiere with the documentary at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Speaking to Variety about the recording of the new version, co-director/producer Gary Lane revealed: "We could do a documentary just on the making of the duet."
Co-director/producer Camille Hardman added that "Dolly’s original version was very upbeat. There was a lot of hope I would say in the song." Whereas the new version is "a little bit melancholic."
Clarkson, who is often described as the "cover song queen" is no stranger to the original version of 9 to 5. The Voice coach covered the song or a 2019 promotional video tied to the launch of her daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show.
