A petition to have Kanye 'Ye' West removed from the Coachella line-up has received over 28 000 signatures so far.

The Change.org petition was launched due to the rapper's relentless social media shots at estranged wife Kim Kardashian, her new boyfriend Pete Davidson and Trevor Noah, among others.

"We have watched Kanye harass, manipulate, and hurt Kim, Pete, and others for over a year now. No one seems to want to stand up to him, and the ones that do, he puts under fire as well," the petition reads.

"Coachella (along with other brand names that are still working with him) should be ashamed of themselves and should not be giving him any more of a platform."

The petition's goal is to get 35 000 signatures, making it one of the top signed on Change.org.

The call to have West removed from the festival's weekend line-up comes after West was banned from performing at this year's Grammys ceremony, scheduled to take place on Sunday.

Earlier this month West was also put on a 24-hour suspension from Instagram after using a racial slur against Noah in a post regarding comments made on The Daily Show about West's behaviour towards ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend, Pete Davidson.

The rapper is set to headline Day 3 and 6 of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival next month. Festival officials have not yet commented on the petition.
