Despite his much-publicised and scathing criticism of the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) last year, renowned musician and producer Zakes Bantwini has expressed his disheartenment about news regarding the upcoming awards. 

The show's been stopped in its tracks after the KwaZulu-Natal government backed out of hosting the ceremony with less than a month to go.

The 29th edition of the awards, set for a live broadcast on SABC 1, was scheduled for the weekend of 17 and 18 November at the Durban ICC.
