Amapiano musician and dancer Kamo Mphela has come a long way since she burst onto the scene with her dance moves. Since then, she has been making significant strides in the music industry, especially in the Amapiano space, a genre that first launched her career.

The star's latest single, Dalie, has garnered more than 1.86 billion views on TikTok and more than 120 million likes from her fans worldwide, a stark contrast from the 1.7 million views it has on YouTube.

She features Khalil Harrison and Tyler ICU on the track.

The song dropped in October and featured in TikTok's Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) Top 50 Chart for three consecutive weeks.

The #daliechallenge hashtag is sitting at 9.5 million views, making it one of the fastest-growing trends on TikTok.

"TikTok is a space where we can celebrate authenticity, express creativity, and connect with like-minded people. The support I've received for 'Dalie' and the #daliechallenge has been a tremendous source of motivation and encouragement," she said in a statement.

Another one of Mphela's recent achievements includes a collaboration with cosmetics brand Maybelline New York and a nod at the DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards, with her track Nkulunkulu receiving a nomination for Best Music Video at the Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards in 2021.

She graced the stage in the United Kingdom as part of the AmaFest Tour during the same year.

Taking to Instagram ahead of Rocking The Daisies, Mphela announced that she is now the face of Maybelline's new SuperStay Showdown collection - a 16-shade collection of lipsticks.

Another milestone in Mphela's list of achievements as a musician includes headlining Afro Nation in Nigeria while contributing to the Black Panther soundtrack.

"Being part of two soundtracks on Black Panther with Durban Gogo, Young Stunna, Sino Msolo, and Busiswa has been an incredible journey. Visiting London was a highlight for me."

Explaining the inspiration behind Dalie, Mphela revealed it translates to 'my darling' or 'my love'.

Mphela added:

I crafted this love song on an up-tempo Amapiano beat, and the incredible response has left me profoundly grateful. The encouragement I've received fuels my passion, enabling me to share my creativity with the world.

She also shared her excitement for diversifying her content soon saying, "While I enjoy creating dance content, I also look forward to sharing food-related content in the future. TikTok allows me to be authentic and connect with a community with similar interests."

In a past interview with City Press about how she balances her acts, she simply said it was all about synergy.

"Sometimes, it’s hard to balance the music and dancing, you know? What I try to do is that I make dance videos that translate my music. I'm always recording new music, and always creating new dance routines.

"That's just how I balance, I try to make sure that every song I make has its own signature dance choreography; it balances the music and dance equation. I almost do it simultaneously."
