After a concertgoer threw a phone at American pop star Bebe Rexha's face in June, she had to be taken to the hospital and later emerged on social media with a black eye and stitches.

When the phone-slinger, Nicolas Malvagna, was apprehended by police, his reason for assaulting Rexha was that he "thought it would be funny".

This would turn out to be part of a growing trend where audience members throw all types of objects at performing artists.
