Rihanna didn't get paid for her Super Bowl performance

accreditation

Did you watch Rihanna's concert on Sunday? You know, the one with the random football game?

Well, it turns out she didn't get paid for that killer performance – and neither did her unborn child.

As is customary for the Super Bowl halftime performer, only production costs are covered. A spokesperson for the NFL told Forbes in 2016: "We do not pay the artists. We cover expenses and production costs," while Brian McCarthy, the NFL's vice president of communications, confirmed to Newsweek the league covers "all costs associated with the show".

Artists, however, get paid a minimum wage guaranteed by a union contract – and plenty of exposure for the music.

For RiRi, though she hasn't released a new album in years – with fans convinced a baby on the way means the wait might extend just a little longer – her Fenty brand got plenty of traction during her performance.

Rihanna touched up her makeup during her performance and was seen applying her new MVP liquid lipstick that, coincidentally, launched online during halftime on Sunday.
