  • Metro FM presenter Tbo Touch will continue to host The Touchdown despite speculation that his future at the station was hanging by a thread.
  • The station said Touch would retain the show on Friday as it shared its 2024/2025 line-up, effective from 1 April.
  • Several others join the station as new and returning additions, but Nothemba Madumo, Oskido, Siya Mhlongo and DJ Sphectacula bid it farewell.

Longtime Metro FM broadcaster Tbo Touch, real name Thabo Molefe, will remain at the helm of his weekday drivetime show, The Touchdown, despite reports earlier in the week that his future at the station hung in the balance as he had not signed a new contract.

The station shared news that Tbo Touch would retain his show on Friday as it announced its 2024/2025 line-up, effective from 1 April. Bringing her "delightful energy" and thrill to the 15:00 to 18:00 show as co-host is Luthando "LootLove" Shosha.

On Wednesday, Zimoja reported that a mole at the station claimed the 42-year-old was the only presenter who had yet to sign a new contract with Metro FM, as he and the SABC were reportedly not agreeing on certain terms.

"He is not happy with his growth at the station. He is limited when coming to do other business outside of the SABC because of conflict of interest," the source told the publication.

The source reportedly added that Tbo Touch was not concerned about money but about growth.

Another addition to the Metro FM weekday line-up is Rorisang Thandekiso in the 05:00 to 06:00 slot for a show called Command Your Day.

In addition, Metro FM is introducing a new music and urban lifestyle show presented by Quinton "Naked DJ" Masina and new addition Thato Immaculate from 18:00 to 21:00 on Saturdays.

Paul Mtirara joins Sunday Love Movement to present The Chill Factor from 12:00 to 15:00, while Sunday Soul Therapy with Msizi Shembe moves to the 21:00 to 00:00 slot.

While several new additions were joining the show, Nothemba Madumo, Oscar "Oskido" Mdlongwa, Siya Mhlongo and Sphe "Sphectacula" Ngwenya bid the station farewell.

"We have amplified the current line-up and are supporting the growth of weekend shows with exciting changes. Our 2024 offering will ensure that the station remains relatable and inspirational to listeners who are constantly seeking inspiration for growth and progression," station business manager Kina Nhlengethwa said.
