A trading card signed by rap star and businessman Jay-Z has sold for $105 780 (R1.5 million), setting an all-time record for any non-sports/TCG (trading card game) card, according to Goldin Auctions.

The limited-edition "Signs of Stardom" card is in "mint condition", the Goldin Auctions website says in its description.

"This collectible boasts an incredible signature by hip-hop mogul Jay-Z. The New York icon has signed the card in bold black marker [sic]," it reads.

According to NME, an earlier Instagram post on the Goldin Auctions page revealed that the card had a bid of $2 200 (R32 000) on it before the massive spike in the amount.
