Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have acquired film rights to a bestselling romantic novel, the UK Sun reported on Sunday.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will also produce the film, based on the Canadian author Carley Fortune's Meet Me at the Lake. The novel, published in May 2023 and sold 37 000 copies in its first week, reportedly has some similarities with the couple's lives.
The novel is about a couple in their thirties who deal with mental health, post-natal depression and childhood trauma, which partly results from losing a parent in a car crash, according to The Sun. It is also set in Toronto, where Meghan and Harry started their relationship.
Prince Harry lost his mother, Princess of Wales Diana Spencer, in a car crash on 31 August 1997.

The production of the film has been delayed due to the writers' and actors' strike.
The couple have previously published books and have been involved in documentary projects. Their acquisition of the film rights to Fortune's book will form part of their reported $100 million deal with Netflix, Deadline stated.
It is estimated that acquiring the rights cost around $3.8 million, according to The Sun.
When their Netflix docu-series Harry & Meghan was released, it broke records for having more than 80 million watch hours in the first four days. This made it the biggest Netflix documentary debut ever, according to The Mirror UK.
