"The royal rota has pointed the finger at online trolls for the damage caused to the palace. I'm, in part, taking a stand for the internet sleuths this time. I believe the palace created its own media frenzy and royal crisis," writes Bashiera Parker.

On Friday, 22 March, the Princess of Wales appeared in a video message revealing her cancer diagnosis to the world.

The announcement came months after Kate's last public engagement on Christmas Day and "planned abdominal surgery" that would only see her return to work after Easter. The statement, however, resulted in "a wildfire of gossip and conspiracy theories" in the weeks that followed one icy cold winter for the British royal family.
