- The new shows begin on 24 December with Teboho 'Caddy' Tsotetsi taking viewers through some of the videos which dominated the airwaves in the past 12 months.
From the days of kwaito music to the era of amapiano, Channel O (DStv 320) is celebrating its milestone birthday with a revved-up line-up this festive season.
The music-based channel started transmission in 1997 and is celebrating its 25th birthday. The channel is introducing new shows for the festive season and beyond to mark the milestone.
"It's incredible that Channel O has been around for this long while keeping things fresh," M-Net director of local entertainment channels Shirley Adonisi says in a press statement. "The channel has played a pivotal role in shaping and influencing music and pop culture over the years."
Adonisi adds: "We would like to thank the audience for their continued support for, and investment in, Channel O. Here's to another 25 years."
New shows to look forward to:
Konka Christmas (starting Sunday, 25 December at 14:00)
The Konka Day Club presents viewers with a seven-hour music mix special from DJs such as Kitchen Mess, DJ Ph, Lerato Kganyago, DBN Gogo, Oscar Mbo, DJs @ Work and Kabza De Small.
Music Everywhere (additional airing from 25 December at 13:00)
With music curated by Grammy-Award nominated Zakes Bantwini, the producer, musician and businessman brings a scenic musical experience featuring sights and sounds from his favourite places.
Channel O Top 50 (additional airing from 24 December at 10:00)
With so much music released this year, there was no rest for local musicians, and this season, Teboho 'Caddy' Tsotetsi takes viewers through some of the videos which dominated the airwaves in the past 12 months.
'22 Wrap Up (starting 31 December at 23:00)
Channel O wraps up the year with a bang by bringing viewers performances from Shimza, Blxckie, Nomfundo Moh and many more hosted by Robot Boii.
Vide-O Mix (starting 13 January at 18:00)
The high-energy video mix show brings viewers the hottest videos curated by the coolest DJs, catering to everyone – from amapiano to afrobeats to hip-hop and many more.
