Devil's Peak, a new M-Net original drama and the latest Deon Meyer adaptation, has begun filming in Cape Town.
The crime thriller drama, based on Deon Meyer's 2004 best-selling book of the same name, premieres on M-Net (DStv 101) in 2023. It follows talented yet broken Detective Benny Grissel (played by Hilton Pelser), tasked with tracking down a righteous vigilante killer whose crimes capture the city's imagination.
Sisanda Henna plays Thobela Mpayipheli, a grieving father who desperately seeks justice after the untimely murder of his son. Hilton and Sisanda's characters come into the orbit of Christine (played by Tarryn Wyngaard), who will do anything to achieve a better life for herself and her daughter.
"The fates of these three characters become inextricably linked as the series builds to its explosive climax," a press statement reads. "Combining gripping tension with uncompromising authenticity, Devil's Peak offers an original South African take on the investigative thriller for today."
Other characters in the drama include Anna Griessel, Benny's wife (played by Shamilla Miller) and Mbali Kaleni, Benny's colleague (played by Masasa Mbangeni). Jozua Malherbe directs the series.

Meyer said he is "thrilled" to bring Benny's story to life.
"Benny Griessel started his fictitious life as a humble once-off cameo character, and never in my wildest dreams did I think he would one day be part of an international TV series," he said in the press statement. "I am absolutely thrilled that this brilliant team of cast and crew will bring him and his story to life."
