- Cornet Mamabolo has thanked audiences for embracing him when he joined 1Magic telenovela The River.
- Mamabolo joined the telenovela last month after leaving Skeem Saam to focus on his insurance business last year.

After being killed by police commissioner Zweli Dikana (played by Hlomla Dandala) for killing women in the streets of Refilwe, Lerumo (played by Cornet Mamabolo), has bowed out of 1Magic telenovela The River.
"Thank you," the Mamabolo wrote in the caption to a series of photos from the set alongside his former colleagues.
The actor made his debut as heartbroken yet out-for-revenge Lerumo last month after leaving his long-running character as Thabo Maputla on SABC 1's Skeem Saam in 2021. At the time, Mamabolo said he was leaving the show to focus on his insurance business, Digni Financial Services.
In another, lengthier caption, he said his character was one he had to fall in love with for audiences to genuinely hate. He said it was one of those where if the audiences fell in love with him, he would have done a "bad job" as an actor.
"It's a role that is exciting for an actor but distasteful for the audience," he wrote. "I'm happy that I had an opportunity to be a child again and play, to bring him to life. I feel so blessed to be trusted with such an amazing yet dark story."
"Thanks to you for watching this brief yet impactful story."
