SABC1 has a brand-new reality show, The Queens of Mzansi, which will premiere on Monday, 15 August at 21:00.

"Like most South African women, The Queens of Mzansi face hardships from gender-based violence, divorce, financial difficulties, and being widowed. That is what makes them Queens…they all had a rebirth and have found their voices and crowns again," reads a press release from the channel.

According to the statement, viewers will get a front-row seat into their lives and what it 'means to be a modern-day South African woman' while balancing friendship, romantic relationships, being single moms and managing their businesses.

Samkelisiwe (Samke) Mhlongo

The 35-year-old is a divorced mother of two from KwaZulu-Natal.

Lucky Mthembu

Miss SA Teen 2009, and a mother to a 2-year-old, Lucky was engaged to someone with a personality disorder. Their relationship ended in 2015 after she was severely brutally assaulted.

Paloma (Lolo) Mlunjwana

The 35-year-old hails from Zimbabwe. She met her first "sugar daddy" on a website, who was a multi-millionaire, and he helped her elevate her life.

Siphelele Petunia Makhanya

The 38-year-old widow is from Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal and is the mother to an 8-year-old daughter.

Ntombifuthi Mthembu

The 40-year-old businesswoman is a mother of two boys aged 18 and 8. She is the founder of ArmsNelly construction, a company she named after her parents. At 24, she divorced her first husband and diversified her portfolio by investing in property in Dubai.
