Thembisa Mdoda-Nxumalo, Vuyo Ngcukana and Amanda Quwe are just some of the actors who will bring 1Magic's (DStv 103) all-new romantic weekday series, 1802: Love Defies Time to life when it premieres at the beginning of May.
Other cast members include Prince Grootboom, Motheo Ratikane and Sikelelwa Vuyeleni.
According to a statement, 1802: Love Defies Time follows two star-crossed lovers as they travel through time searching for their destiny in the fascinating series with elements of fantasy and mythology.
"With its fascinating story, talented cast and intriguing portrayal of Xhosa culture, this show is bound to capture the imagination of our audience. Our goal is to continue to bring authentic local stories to our viewers, and we invite DStv Premium and Compact Plus subscribers to tune in to follow the love story of Khosi and Melisizwe," M-Net local entertainment channels director Shirley Adonisi says in a press statement.
"We believe that 1802: Love Defies Time will be an amazing addition to our 20:30 (Monday – Wednesday) slot, and we hope our viewers will enjoy this tantalising love story."
When Khosi is pulled back to the 1800s, viewers see her in a world unlike anything they have ever seen – a world run by the Jola royal family led by King Jonginamba KaMajola, who has three wives who live separately in their homesteads and Melisizwe's father.
His first wife with MamCwerha, a story and ferocious woman who will do anything to protect her son, Longamo, whom she considers the rightful heir. The second wife is MamThembu, the favourite, along with their son Melisizwe.
MaMpinga is the youngest wife and does not like being pulled into family dramas. Her house is filled with daughters and is renowned for its dancing and singing.
1802: Love Defies Time, co-created and produced by Lulu Hela of Hela Media, premieres on 1Magic (DStv 103) on Monday, 1 May, at 20:30.
