In Disney's upcoming animated show, Iwájú, nothing is what it seems.
The limited series is set in a futuristic Lagos, Nigeria and tells the coming-of-age story of Tola and her best friend, Kole, according to a series description.
Together, "they discover the secrets and dangers hidden in their different worlds", the description states.
The series is set to be made available on Disney+ from 28 February.
Iwájú is produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and Kugali Media, which is an entertainment company "focused on telling stories inspired by African Culture", according to their website.
Their stories "respect the history, embrace the present and imagine the future of Africa", the website states. Part of their core values is also supporting African creators.

The show's description reads: "Kugali filmmakers -including director Olufikayo Ziki Adeola, production designer Hamid Ibrahim and cultural consultant Toluwalakin Olowofoyeku - take viewers on a unique journey into the world of Iwájú, bursting with unique visual elements and technological advancements inspired by the spirit of Lagos."
Iwájú is part of a larger wave of Afro-futurist animation delivered by major studios, including shows like Kiya and the Kimoja Heroes, Supa Team 4 and Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire.
