We're big fans of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Not only is it fun to drive thanks to punchy engines and lovely sharp steering feel, it's a breathe of fresh air in the German-dominated mid-size SUV segment.
It seems the Italian's appeal extends to readers of German motoring magazine "Auto Motor und Sport". The publication's 2020 "Autonis" competition saw the Stelvio awarded the title of 'the most beautiful SUV' in its class.
"This award is a recognition of Italian design and our Alfa Romeo design language that combines great proportions, with characterful elements and beautiful, hand sculpted surfaces," commented Klaus Busse, Head of EMEA Fiat Chyrsler Automobiles.
The Stelvio was designed at the FCA Centro Stile in Turin and the company says it 'continues to pursue that common goal, creating authentic masterpieces Made in Italy, acknowledged and appreciated as such all over the world'.

Over 16 000 votes cast
The publication says 16 182 readers of the magazine and users of the digital offers cast their votes for around 100 vehicle models in ten rating classes in the "Autonis" competition.
The criteria to determine the winner in each category is a balance of approval and rejection for each model.
Each participant had four votes per category, two for particularly successful design and two for less convincing forms.
Therefore negative comments are counted just as much as positive ones. The latter clearly predominated in the case of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio - the first SUV in the brand's history secured 20.4% of the votes in the "Large SUV" category.
