  • In 2022, the conversation about what women are allowed to wear is still an ongoing debate.
  • A 16-year-old boy took it upon himself to protest his friend's 3-day suspension from school by wearing his mom's wedding dress to school.
  • Now the mom is wondering if she did the right thing by supporting her son and allowing him to wear her dress.

Although society has become more accepting of how people choose to identify there is still unfortunately a long way to go. One mother took to Reddit to share that she let her son wear her wedding dress to school when he asked to protest his friend's 3-day suspension for wearing a crop top.

Although the mother supported the idea, her parents disagreed with her decision.

The mom took to the Reddit to as if she was wrong for allowing her 16-year-old son to wear her wedding gown to school in protest. She says her son enjoys dressing creatively and often leaves the house in feminine outfits.

The wedding dress doesn't hold fond memories anymore since she's divorced from her husband because he was abusive, hence giving the dress to her son wasn't a big deal. However, she stressed that he did bring it back in one piece.

"My son went to school, and apparently, some kid took a picture of him and posted it on Instagram. It circulated to Facebook, where my parents saw the photo," she says.

"They cussed [sic] me out over the phone, saying I shouldn't allow this in my house, that I need to get my son into a church and get him saved, and berated me for almost an hour. I am now the talk of the town, and everyone thinks I am a horrible parent."

Redditors quickly jumped into the comment section to say that they agreed with the mother and assured her that she's not a bad mom, with one saying, "You got to know your son is a hero."

Another added, saying, "It's your wedding dress, and I think it's great that your son is mature enough to protest things he thinks are unjust without breaking the rules or being obstructive or shouty."

Another added, "Being a good parent is not about rejecting your child's choices but raising your child to be a responsible and productive member of society and supporting him or her."
