A mother in central China sparked an online parenting debate after posting a video of her two-year-old daughter painting on their expensive Porsche. The mother, named Ms Mao in local media in Wuhan, Hubei Province, said she wanted to let her child express herself creatively by letting her put paint on their family's luxury car.

According to Ms Mao, the little girl, who really likes to draw, wanted to make a more interesting painting, so she took some washable paint and took the child to the car park to paint on her white Porsche. In the video, the girl can be seen stamping on some colourful patterns and fruits and painting animals with her mother's help.

The little girl then dipped her fingers in some paint and left her handprints on the car doors. But after sharing the video on Douyin, which is what TikTok is called in China, Ms Mao stirred controversy among netizens. Some questioned that this would mislead the child into thinking it is okay to draw on other people's cars.

Ms Mao said that she had told her daughter not to draw on cars unless she was given permission from adults. She said that her daughter has been taught positively about this aspect, and said that although the Porsche may be valuable to adults, it is just a normal car for a two-year-old. She added that they had a lot of fun and cleaned the car later.
