  • Gender reveal parties began as a fun way of letting family and friends know the gender of a new addition.
  • In the beginning, guests did simple activities like popping balloons with confetti and biting into colourful cake pops.
  • Now, parents have made them riskier by upping the ante in the effort to differentiate themselves.
  • One pilot recently died after flying a plane that let out pink smoke.

Over the years, we've seen an increase in creativity when it comes to gender reveal parties. From the simple ones, such as popping balloons with colourful confetti signifying the baby's gender, to eating cake pops coloured with the baby's gender.

However, couples moved on to bigger things, such as getting a chopper or plane to dump pink or blue smoke revealing the baby's gender. This past Sunday, a pilot died during a gender reveal stunt when the plane crashed while dumping pink smoke.

A moment that was meant to celebrate life ended in a tragedy in San Pedro, Mexico, after a pilot lost his life.

A short clip of the event has been circulating on social media, showing a couple standing next to a sign written, 'Oh Baby' surrounded by pink and blue balloons. Soon after, a plane flew by, dumping pink smoke.

Everything went well until the aircraft started to spiral and its left wing bent upward. The people who attended the event weren't aware that something had gone wrong with the plane. According to Fox News, moments later paramedics pulled up to the scene, treated the pilot and then rushed him to the hospital.

Unfortunately, the pilot didn't make it as he later died at the hospital. The Sun UK reported that the pilot was a 32-year-old local named Luis Angel.

So far, no other injuries were reported as a result of the crash. This wasn't the first gender reveal party that ended tragically.

In 2019, another US family unintentionally built a pipe bomb and when it went off, the pipe exploded, causing the shrapnel to fly, and it hit and killed a grandmother standing nearby.
