WATCH | After 6 months, Cher and her rumoured fiancé' have called it quits

• Cher and Alexander 'AE' Edwards have been in a relationship since last year November.
• A month later, the pair were rumoured to be engaged when Cher tweeted about a ring.
• Now, the couple is rumoured to have split; however, the reason has not yet been disclosed.

Cher and Alexander 'AE' Edwards have been in a relationship since last year. But according to a TMZ source, the couple split a couple of weeks ago though a reason for the breakup was not disclosed.

The TMZ insider also revealed the pair was "never even engaged, despite multiple reports to the contrary," adding they had decided to "play into the speculation" about the ring AE had given the singer in December, which was worth a reported $250,000 (R4 600 000).

Cher said at the time that she wished she could show her late mother, Georgia Holt, the ring. 

When asked if Cher was a good stepmother to his son, he added, "She is amazing." When quizzed about what made him fall in love with the singer and actor, he said, "Just Cher being Cher."

Rumours Cher and Alexander were engaged started on Christmas Day when Cher shared a photo of a diamond ring alongside the caption, "There r [sic] no words, Alexander". 

Previously, the singer defended their age-gap relationship by insisting they love each other. Last year she said they kissed like teenagers and declared, "Love doesn't know math, it sees. On paper, it's kind of ridiculous. But in real life, we get along great". 

Cher previously dated Tom Cruise, 60, when they had a 16-year age gap. She has been married twice – to Sonny Bono from 1964 to 1975 and Gregg Allman from 1975 to 1979 – and had children Chaz and Elijah with the late musicians, respectively.
