A 65-year-old multimillionaire mayor has wed a 16-year-old high school student. The couple from Brazil got married in April 2023, where family and friends attended.
The mayor of Araucária, the Brazilian state of Paraná, Hissam Hussein Dehaini, married former Miss Teen contestant Kauane Rode Camargo. Camargo is his third wife.
The new "First Lady of Araucaria", still in high school, has reportedly participated in several beauty contests for teenagers, coming in as the runner-up for the 2022 edition of Miss Araucária Teen.
Hissam, serving his second term as mayor, made his fortune as a businessman. He said: "We are happy. She does me good, and I do her good, and together we are not doing anyone any harm."

Dehaini is reportedly worth BRL14 million (R51 million).

The civic bigwig has subsequently made promises to his new wife's family. Kauane's mom and aunt now have cushy jobs in his administration. Other relatives have also been promised jobs.
According to local media, the teenage wife's mother, 36-year-old mother Marilene Rode, was made the new municipal secretary of culture and tourism a day after the wedding. And the bride's aunt, Elizangela Rode, was appointed secretary-general director at the City Hall in April.
