  • Valentine's day has finally arrived, and many couples are looking forward to celebrating their love with their partners.
  • However, for Roy and Evelyn Sorrell from Mount Sterling, Kentucky, USA, the holiday is more than just another universal day for celebrating love.
  • It marks a significant day in their marriage. The couple will be celebrating their 73rd wedding anniversary.

Roy and Evelyn Sorrell, who currently live in the Sterling Meadows Assisted Living home in Kentucky, US, married on 14 February 1950. The pair have given their community an example of what they would like their future to look like with their partner. This year, it's 73 years since they made their vows and their story is tugging at heartstrings all over the world.

"They've brought this light and this love, and I think it's definitely a good model for everybody," a resident services director at Sterling Meadows said.

The couple also shared what has kept them together for seven decades, "Well, I guess being in love with each other. She was very agreeable with me and my work. My work kept me away quite a bit, but she was always very generous," Roy said.

His wife Evelyn says this is why they're still married. In addition, Roy insists they're inseparable, "I just don't feel like going any place other than with her."

The couple shared some advice on the importance of choosing your life partner and how to treat them.

"Be careful in your selection of a partner. Appreciate the partner that you select if they're compatible," Roy added.

The Sterling Meadows Assisted Living home will host a Valentine's dance today, and the staff said they expect Roy and Evelyn to steal the spotlight.
