When Moonchild Sanelly expressed her desire to open a sex club in Johannesburg, many clutched their pearls and turned their noses up at the idea, but South Africa has a growing scene of people interested in exploring their sexuality and kinks. 

According to a new survey by a sex-positive dating app, Pure, at least 1 in 7 people said they had thought about attending events like sex parties. This curiosity in what is deemed an "alternative lifestyle" exists alongside the belief held by 90% of adults surveyed that they lack basic sex education.
