  • In a post shared on Reddit, a bride reveals that she does not want her fiancé's pregnant teenage sister at her wedding, afraid that the 17-year-old will steal her spotlight.
  •  When they found out that the groom's little sister was pregnant, the bride decided to uninvite her.
  • The couple initially did not want any kids under 10 in attendance because of the noise children make.

A Reddit bride says she does not want anyone stealing her spotlight, even if it means not inviting the groom's sister who is pregnant.

Pregnant women often require a lot of attention and accommodation, she claims. "I don't want to risk her giving birth and needing even more attention that should be placed on me. So I think she shouldn't be there."

Every bride wants to be the centre of attention on their big day. It is, after all, the celebration of a new life ahead of her.

She has a right to want what she wants because she is the bride, but where do we draw the line?

The bride and her fiancé are compiling their wedding guest list, and she explains that she initially wanted to add her soon-to-be sister-in-law to the list until she found out that she was pregnant.

The pair initially planned to have their wedding without children under the age of ten in attendance.

As much as the bride-to-be loves kids, she explains that she had been to weddings that were "ruined by screaming and wailing tykes".

"Now, I'm not going to sit here and shame her for her irresponsible actions or anything, but I felt like this was a very big deal.

"What I'm more worried about is her due date. She is apparently due two weeks after the wedding.

"There's also the risk of her water breaking at my ceremony and taking all the attention off me on my day. Call me selfish, but I feel that my husband to be and I should be the focal point."

The bride thinks the nine-month pregnant girl should not be on her feet so close to her due date, anyway.

"I don't want to risk her giving birth and needing even more attention that should be placed on me. So I think she shouldn't be there."

When she told her fiancé that she did not want to invite his little sister, she says: "He got unbelievably pissed off at me," adding: "I get that they are very close, but it's not a good idea."

"He told me I was backpedalling and I should be ashamed of myself. He then told his whole family, and they all are mad at me for suggesting this," she continues.

This bride further states that her family is religious and she wants to respect them.

"My family is very religious, and I know they will be unhappy, and it would potentially ruin their time if they saw a pregnant teenager at my wedding."

Commenting on the post, one Reddit user writes: "Your husband is right. You should be ashamed of yourself. If someone has a heart attack during your ceremony- are you going to whine how they stole attention from you?"

"If the sister isn't feeling well or up to it, she can make that decision. You aren't concerned for her. You're concerned about keeping up appearances for your parents. The problem is, they're going to find out there's a teen pregnancy anyway, and if they're so judgmental they can't even be at the same event, that is firmly a "them" problem," says another.
