Women across the globe are changing how they feel about being left at the altar; instead of crying themselves to sleep and hating love, they decide to celebrate or do something good for others.
One woman was supposed to get married in 2015, but when the groom decided he no longer wanted to get married, her mother invited homeless people to attend the already-planned celebration at a five-star hotel. She eventually got married in 2017 to a different man who didn't leave her at the altar.

Sacramento, California-based Quinn Duane was meant to get married in 2015, but her fiancé called off the wedding a few days before. The wedding expenses came to $35 000 (R600 000).
Devastated by the news, Quinn leaned on her family for support, and they came through for her. They decided to go ahead with the wedding celebration as the mother, Kari, said the ceremony, reception and honeymoon were already paid in full, and there was no refund.

"When I found out on Monday that the wedding would not be taking place, it just seemed like, of course, this would be something that we would do to give back. I feel a lot of heartache and heartbreak for her, but I will take away something good from this," Kari told KCRA-TV channel 3, affiliated with NBC.
Quinn's mother decided she would instead invite those who don't always have a meal to attend the wedding, which was meant to be for 120 people. The reception included a five-star meal with expensive appetisers such as salmon, gnocchi, tri-trip and cauliflower. Quinn was too heartbroken to attend the event, so she stayed home.
Some of the people who attended the wedding expressed their gratitude. A man named Rashad Abdullah, who brought his wife and five children, said, "When you're going through a hard time and a struggle, for you to get out to do something different with your family, it was really a blessing."

As the bride's family had already paid for the couple's honeymoon in Belize, they decided to make it a mother-daughter trip for Quinn and her mother instead. Fortunately, Quinn's story didn't end in tears; she found love again and got married in 2017 to a man named Jordan.
