Not everyone wants a diamond on their finger, other more favoured options exist. Times have changed, but there are other traditions the Gen-Z would also keep.
A survey explored how couples plan their engagements throughout the year and during the holiday season. Two-thirds would be open to giving or receiving an engagement ring without a diamond. Respondents expressed they would be interested in these other rings instead of a diamond.

Additionally, one in five millennials would be open to tying the knot permanently with a tattoo ring — more than any other generation. Metal was at 40%, emerald at 37%, sapphire at 36% and tattoos at 15%.
Nearly three in five respondents said they would like to be part of choosing the ring from the get-go, with millennials being the most likely generation to do so (71%).

Although times have changed, the Gen-Z still follow traditions like getting on one knee (51%). Regarding asking their partner's parents for permission to marry, 34% were all for it. Respondents believe that 52% of the most important part of the proposal is thoughtfulness and a personal touch.
They also prefer to be surprised by the proposal rather than know what is coming (56%) versus 13%.They would also prefer to get engaged in private than in public.
