- Weddings can be the best day of the bride and grooms lives, however sometimes life happens and things don't quite live up to what we had imagined.
- Reddit users shared some of the most awkward, embarrassing and downright wrong things they've witnessed at weddings.
- From a groom who got arrested at his wedding to a grandmother blaming teens for their mom's death in full view of wedding guests, here are some of the most awkward incidents.
The opportunistic grandmother
One Reddit user shared what happened at his wedding, which took place a few months after one of their aunts committed suicide.
"This was the first family event after that happened. My grandmother approached my late aunt's two daughters. They were age 16 and 19 at the time. She proceeded to blame them for their mother's death," shared the user.
"Needless to say, they both headed to the bar along with the rest of my cousins. Kinda put a damper on the start of my wedding dance. The alcohol helped everyone loosen up. My grandmother lost two grandchildren that day and many of us cousins do not look at her the same"

The dramatic mother-in-law
One user says her mother-in-law is "crazy" and "her favourite thing to do is make people deeply uncomfortable, and hardly anyone talks to her about that".
"Anyhow, her one daughter had an outdoor wedding the summer when the West Nile virus was all over the news. So, to get attention, she threw a big fit and showed up to the wedding wearing a pith helmet she had brought back from Australia, in camouflage, with mosquito netting, and refused to take it off," shares the user.
"She is in all the wedding photos like this, the mother of the bride, looking entirely pleased with herself."

From the aisle, straight to jail
Another Reddit user who worked behind the private bar as a bartender during a wedding shared that a groom got arrested during the nuptials.
"I noticed the bride running around frantically asking for help and all the groomsmen in a complete panic because they couldn't find the groom! It turns out he went outside with his best man to blow a line of coke in the parking lot and got arrested and sent to jail like an hour into his wedding reception. It ruined the entire event for everyone," the user shares.
"The bride proceeded to get completely wasted and make a scene, causing about half of their guests just quietly to leave, and they left five full kegs of beer behind, all of which they still had to pay. It was so uncomfortable going up to the father of the bride and asking him to sign the credit receipt, which included all of the stuff he still had to pay for but that they couldn't consume."

A lust triangle
One user shares how a cheating scandal got out of hand at a wedding.
"Two of my friends got married. The groom cheated on his bride quite often, including the night before the wedding. An anonymous text was sent out and spilled the beans to the bride. A fight ensued, but the wedding continued as planned," the user shares.
"Also, the girl that did the bride's makeup for the wedding? Well, that was the girl who had been sleeping with the groom. I have never witnessed a more awkward situation in my life."
