He then expressed to his wife-to-be that this idea makes him uncomfortable as it wasn’t the step-grandmother’s dress to give away in the first place, regardless of whether his mom abandoned the dress or not.
“She shouldn’t wear a dress associated with someone who has been such a negative in our lives. Also, it feels weird that someone else gave her my mom’s wedding gown, and I feel my step-grandmother was trying to stir the pot,” he adds.

Redditors quickly jumped on the comment section to share their thoughts in support of the groom-to-be saying, “If she takes that dress, your wedding becomes about being an FU [sic] to your mom. There are millions of dresses that aren’t tainted by a woman that hates her, it's weird that she would be okay with wearing it.”
Another added that the fiancée should value her fiancé’s feelings over wearing a luxury brand. “Your fiancée values a brand name more than your feelings. That’s why you’re uncomfortable. How can a wedding be a dream for her when it’s a nightmare for you?”
