  • A couple has been having issue with paying for the bride’s wedding dress.
  • The groom-to-be’s step grandmother gave the fiancée his mother’s old Valentino gown.
  • However, the groom’s mother hates his fiancée and that makes the groom uncomfortable about his fiancée wearing the dress.

It’s quite normal for couples to have a few disagreements while planning for their big day, however when it becomes about the woman’s wedding dress, the disagreement escalates.

A Reddit groom is trying to stop his bride from wearing a Valentino dress that belonged to his mother because he feels his step-grandmother is stirring the pot. The groom-to-be’s mother already hates his fiancée.

The groom-to-be took to Reddit to vent about the divide in his family at the moment. He started by saying that he is currently planning his wedding with his beautiful fiancée and that this is the first bump in the road they’ve ever had.

He went on to say that his mother hates his fiancée. “I’m talking burning hatred. I have always sided with my fiancée and about six months ago, my mom cut me off fully. She told me she hates my fiancée more than she loves me,” he says.

His sisters also cut him off and it's been painful, however, the rest of his family loves his fiancée.

The grandmother gave the bride to be the groom's mother’s Valetino dress when she heard the couple was struggling with paying for a dress.

The hateful mother didn't like the dress and abandoned it, hence the grandmother chose to gift it to the bride-to-be.

“I don’t know much about fashion, but apparently it is Valentino and that is a huge deal to my fiancée,” the groom says.

He then expressed to his wife-to-be that this idea makes him uncomfortable as it wasn’t the step-grandmother’s dress to give away in the first place, regardless of whether his mom abandoned the dress or not.

“She shouldn’t wear a dress associated with someone who has been such a negative in our lives. Also, it feels weird that someone else gave her my mom’s wedding gown, and I feel my step-grandmother was trying to stir the pot,” he adds.

Redditors quickly jumped on the comment section to share their thoughts in support of the groom-to-be saying, “If she takes that dress, your wedding becomes about being an FU [sic] to your mom. There are millions of dresses that aren’t tainted by a woman that hates her, it's weird that she would be okay with wearing it.”

Another added that the fiancée should value her fiancé’s feelings over wearing a luxury brand. “Your fiancée values a brand name more than your feelings. That’s why you’re uncomfortable. How can a wedding be a dream for her when it’s a nightmare for you?”
