They say true love is like death; no one knows when it will come your way or how. All we know is that when it's meant to happen, it will. For some, it happens while they're young and become childhood sweethearts, but for others, it may take some time and possibly decades. For this couple, it took 60 years, but their high school attraction ended with a surprise marriage proposal at the airport.

Dr Thomas McMeekin and Nancy Gambell first met in high school in Quincy, California. The couple went on a few dates together but ultimately went their separate ways for college. After they graduated, the pair ended up marrying other partners. Fast forward to their 50th high school reunion, they saw each other again. Unfortunately, nothing happened on the night until a decade later.

Their 60th high school reunion came, and they both RSVP'd, but this time around, McMeekin made sure he made his move. Nancy told him she was looking forward to seeing him again, and McMeekin promised a surprise when she landed at the airport. The surprise was a necklace with both their birthstones and a marriage proposal. Nancy said yes, and now the couple are planning their wedding.
