  • This bride's father accidentally donated her wedding gown last year November.
  • Her father called to tell her that he was cleaning out her late mother's closet, where her dress had been stored.
  • Luckily, a stranger on Facebook helped her locate the dress in time for her special day.

A wedding dress plays the most important role at a wedding. The bride spends months searching for her perfect dress with a silhouette and design fit for her wedding budget.

The saddest thing that could happen from here on is a bride losing that perfect dress. Fortunately for Tanya Walsh, a caring stranger helped her find it just in time before she walked down the aisle.

Tanya was devastated when her father accidentally donated her wedding dress, but a stranger helped her get it back. Talking to CBC News, she said, "My dad accidentally donated my wedding dress that was purchased with my mother, who I lost to cancer. We searched for that perfect dress together, and we have that memory of getting that dress before she passed away. My dad said, 'Oh, I cleaned up your mom's closet', and instantly I just felt, like, sick to my stomach."

She says it was devastating, and her immediate decision was to post on Facebook about what happened.

Someone had tagged the volunteer Sheila Kelly who works at the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, where the dress ended up. Sheila said she was on Facebook and saw Tanya's post and thought maybe she could see if the dress was there, and it happened that she had the dress.

Sheila got in contact with Tanya to give her the news, to which she responded emotionally. "I just completely sobbed when I saw the dress; I instantly broke down. I just couldn't believe that it was real that I found the dress," she said.

Sheila says she feels she didn't do anything special; she's just glad that the dress was there and the bride got it back.
