  • This bride got married last week and hasn't separated from her wedding dress since.
  • When she told her family and friends that she would wear her wedding dress everywhere, nobody believed her until she did.
  • Now, she's been wearing it to the shops, taking her kids' school, and doing chores around the house.

When you think about how expensive wedding dresses are and the fact that you only wear them once, it actually sounds like a scam. Hoping to pass your dream dress to your daughter to pass on to her daughter will only cause you pain as styles and taste change with new generations. This Newport newlywed loved her wedding dress so much that after getting married, she wore it every day to carry out household chores, run errands and do school runs with her two children.

32-year-old Christie Hewings got married on 2 September to her husband Kyle at the Celtic Manor Resort in Wales. Before she tied the knot, she always said she would keep wearing her wedding dress after her big day, but nobody believed her until she did.

"I was having a bit of wedding blues, so I just thought, why not? I always said when I got it that I was going to wear it everywhere, but I don't think they believed me. I'm not one for being girly and dressing up normally, but it made me feel a million dollars, so I thought, why not?" Christie told Wales Online.

Christie listed all the things she's done with her wedding dress, including the weight of the dress, despite making it her daily outfit. "I've done the hoovering and the wash-up. It's actually a very heavy dress. I don't know how I've got anything done. I said I was going to do the school run and mow the grass with it on, but it's been raining, so I don't want to get it wet. If I mow the grass, I'll have to put a bag over the end of it."

"I'm going to the Asda shop with it too," she added. Christie also said that her husband is supportive of this idea and even helps her zip up the back of the dress, so she can wear it around the house.

The bride said while walking around in her wedding gown, she does feel some stares. However, she is not bothered by them at all. "I really don't care what people think. If people don't like it then they don't have to look. You only do it once, and you have to make the most of it. It was very expensive, but it was worth every penny."
