  • A woman is engaged to her ex-husband's friend of 20 years, who was a guest at their wedding.
  • She stumbled on his Facebook business when she was looking for transport for a piano.
  • She even donated her kidney to him to save his life.

Destiny sometimes has strange ways of making sure lovers find each other. That much is true for UK woman Kerry Swinton.

Kerry had no idea that one of the guests at her 2011 wedding, who also featured in her wedding pictures, would one day tie the knot with her.

There were 110 guests at the June 2011 wedding to her now ex-husband. One of the guests was the groom's friend of 20 years.

Things didn't work out between the bride and groom, so four years later, in January 2015, Kerry and her then-husband decided to divorce.

The 46-year-old from Telford, Shropshire, has a 10-year-old daughter with him.

After the divorce, Kerry went on a couple of dates and became involved in a few relationships.

But she decided that she would rather embrace singlehood - at least until she needed help transporting a piano. While looking for transport, she stumbled on her now fiancé Mark's Facebook business and contacted him.

"I've known him for 15 years now. We spoke about relationships, and he mentioned that he was seeing someone. We had a nice catch-up, and that was that."

Fast forward through a week of chatting to the day Mark showed up with a bunch of flowers.

"The flowers were beautiful. He asked me on a date, and we had a lovely day together. I could tell immediately I would fall for him."

The rest, as they say in love stories, was history.

They decided to move in together in November 2020.

"He was lovely. It's so funny to see us in old pictures together. I can't believe he's in my wedding pictures."

Soon after, the pair experienced a life-changing event. Mark suffered kidney failure due to a genetic disorder, polycystic kidney disease, in 2021.

He needed a new kidney, and as fate would have it, Kerry was a perfect match.

"The chances were so slim. To think that after finding each other after all those years and to be a match. We were emotional. After both his parents passed away due to this condition, it was such a relief to him."

Kerry continued that she never thought the man she met at her wedding would be her perfect match.

"I thought he was kind but never imagined he'd end up being the love of my life with one of my organs. I never thought I would donate a kidney. It's very surreal."

The operation was successful, and both of them have recovered.

"I owe her the world. She's giving me another chance at life."
