  • A bride-to-be caught her mother-in-law wearing her wedding gown.
  • She took a picture and told her she needed to buy her a new dress.
  • Her fiancé got upset and moved out to stay with his mother.

When a woman is about to get married, there are a couple of important things on her to-do list. One of those things is her wedding gown. The gown is so important that she enlists the help of those whose opinions she trusts to assist her in making the decision.

Once her decision is made, the safety of this gown is taken as seriously as when secret services protect the president of a country. One bride-to-be walked in on her mother-in-law wearing her wedding dress and got upset to the point where she asked her to pay for a new one.

Taking to Reddit, the soon-to-be-married woman shared that in preparation for her big day, she finally bought her dream dress but had an odd request from her mother-in-law.

"My mother-in-law kept on pestering me about trying it on, but I firmly refused. I finally shut it down after she offered me $100 to let her try it on." The mother-in-law's reason for her odd request is her obsession with wedding gowns.

"Fast forward to yesterday, I came back home from work early, and I found my fiancé at home. He freaked out after seeing me and tried to prevent me from going into my room while trying to text somebody on his phone." It turns out the person he was trying to text was his mother.

"I opened the door, and I was shocked to see his mom standing there wearing my dress. I instantly pulled out my phone and took a photo of her in it." The bride-to-be shared that she immediately put her foot down and demanded she pay for a new dress.

"She and my fiancé freaked out after I told her that she needed to pay me for a new dress in three days or else I would show the whole family the photo. She started crying and then left. My fiancé blew up at me, saying I can't be serious and that I overreacted because his mom just wanted to try the dress on, no harm done."

The bride-to-be refused to listen to her fiancé because, in her opinion, the dress should be worn by the bride and the bride only. "Quite frankly, I felt disgusted looking at the dress again. I don't want it anymore." She continued to add that after her fiancé failed to get her to back down, he moved out to stay with his mother.

"My fiancé called and offered to pay for the dress himself so we can end the conflict." However, her fiancé has conditions, including that she deletes the photo, apologise to his mother, exits his family chat group and logs out of Facebook for a month.

Users of the platform commented on the post, with one saying, "This is a snapshot of what the rest of your life will be. He will always accede to his mother's wishes, regardless of your feelings or your own decision." Another added, "Why would you marry someone who went against your wishes like this and then treated you like a villain for being upset your boundaries were crossed.".
