  • A woman with a four-month-old baby has been left in a predicament after being asked to be a bridesmaid at her sister's child-free wedding.
  • She recently had her daughter who is too young to be left alone.
  • She explains that if her sister wants her at the wedding, she should consider changing the date.

Many women love and appreciate being asked to be the bridesmaids because it is a great experience for them, but what happens when the bride does not consider your circumstances?

A woman on Reddit was asked to be a bridesmaid at her sisters' child-free wedding, and she recently had a baby.

"My sister is getting married next month and she asked me to be a bridesmaid. She stated that her wedding is child-free, which I understand and appreciate. I told her when she stated that I probably wouldn't go as I have a four-month-old baby and another who is two-years-old," she wrote.

After telling her sister that she would not be able to attend, the sister got upset but left it for a few days and then came back to her, asking why.

"My daughter is exclusively breastfed, every three hours, and won't take a bottle under any circumstance (I've tried)," adding that she can't leave her.

"She got upset and said the baby would take the bottle if she got hungry enough, which I disagree with. After more arguing, I told her she could either let me bring the baby or not have me come."

The woman continued: "It was more arguing; I said she'll just have to reschedule her wedding in response to her saying I need to be there."

The bridesmaid went on to say that she told her sister that getting childcare for her eldest daughter would be challenging as well because she's autistic and "has very terrible meltdowns".

Reddit users have expressed sympathy for her terrible predicament, with one commenting: "A child-free wedding is perfectly reasonable to have, but if you're going to make that a hard rule you have to accept some people might just not be able to go, especially with a new-born."

"Why do so many people plan child-free weddings and then take it as a personal offence when people with children are unable to attend," commented another.
