There’s no shortage of lavish, spacious accommodation in Mauritius, but few properties come close to what’s on offer at JW Marriott’s Grand Beachfront Villa. In fact, you’ll need to look hard to find any villa in the vast Indian Ocean that matches it on the square meterage front.

The luxury resort in the island’s south-west may have softened its message around its exclusive-use villa being the largest in the vast Indian Ocean. But at 1 659 square metres across a single floor - roughly the area of eight tennis courts - it’s still up there with the biggest.

Size aside, it’s an impressive property, too. So impressive that it costs a small fortune to stay there, and not just anyone can bed down in one of the four rooms.
