Flushing pills may cause them to go into your waterways and pollute the environment. Trashing them is also not recommended and presents a danger to wildlife. Disposing of the medication with kitty litter or coffee grounds won't deter those determined to use it.

Disposing of medication can also cause unintentional harm to kids, as children could be attracted to the colourful capsules that resemble sweets. That would just be a disaster waiting to happen!

Instead of flushing or trashing your medication, see a responsible take-back dropbox or collection event.
