  • Fans in the beauty community turn to simpler ways to wear their hair and makeup.
  • Sleek buns and minimal makeup are all the rage.
  • Here's a great trick for taming frizz when opting for a slicked-back bun.

Thanks to stars like Sofia Richie Grainge, Lori Harvey and Hailey Bieber, slicked-back buns and ponytails have once again reclaimed their spot as the go-to everyday hairstyle for many.

Back in September, Grainge posted a video tutorial on her TikTok account, demonstrating how she gets her signature bun as sleek as it looks. It's her go-to hairstyle on lazy days, she said, when she can't be bothered to do anything with her hair.

"Over the years of doing it, I have gotten really good and I have a really easy technique," said Grainge.

She begins with wet hair, parts her hair in the centre, and then applies hair oil and a regenerative hair mask to her hair.

She sections her hair, leaving half of her hair loose at the back. She then ties the loose hair into a ponytail at the desired height before sleeking the front sections of her hair back and twisting the loose ponytail into a bun.

The video has had 30 million views to date as her fans in the beauty community turn to simpler ways to wear their hair and makeup.

However, frizz remains an issue for many who wear their hair in a ponytail, without using all the products Grainge used.

Hairstylist Matt Newman recently shared his secret to taming frizz on TikTok, and all you need is some hairspray and a round foundation brush.

On his account @mattloveshair, the hairstylist shared a technique that involves spraying hairspray onto a foundation brush before running the brush against his hair, from root to tip, flattening and smoothing frizz as he goes.

And you can instantly see the change in his video as he runs the makeup brush along his hair.

This simple trick is a far cry from the TikTok suggestions: using dental floss to flatten unruly hair or running aluminium foil through your hair to smooth it out.
