As most of us have discovered, not getting enough hours of shut eye can leave us feeling groggy, irritable and affect our concentration the next day. 

A wealth of research has also linked chronic sleep deprivation to a host of serious health problems, including a weakened immune system, and increases the risk of developing depression, heart disease, high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes. 

We didn't need the list to grow, but the researchers behind a new study want us to know it can also make you selfish and less willing to help others.
