Giving gifts is all about the thought behind it, not the occasion, which is why a lot of women say they've bought themselves a gift for a holiday.
A recent survey conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Mejuri found that women have shopped for their own gift for their birthday, Christmas, Valentine's Day and Mother's Day.

Over half of the women polled said they even bought themselves a gift for Mother's Day with 40 percent of these women actually being mom's themselves.
When women give themselves gifts it loses the element of surprise, which is why six in 10 said they make their spouses or partners give these gifts to them. One respondent said that her daughters didn't know what to get her for Mother's Day once she bought a sweater she liked and asked them to wrap it, write a nice card and give it to her.

Another respondent for the Mejury study said she's bought jewellery for her spouse to give to her because she picked something she really liked.
Despite these gift-giving methods, 57 percent feels like their family is likely to ask them what they want before giving them something. Some prefer to drop hints of what they want or give their loved ones suggestions.
