The District Commissioner, Major General Rudolph Adolph, has welcomed the 15-year sentence and conviction of Zikhona Zenzile (34) on December 1, for a robbery which took place earlier this year in Cradock.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa, the robbery took place in Cawood Street where a woman was robbed of her money and threatened with a knife on June 7, this year.
“Through thorough investigation by Sergeant Leinita Eyssen, Zenzile was arrested on the same day and appeared in the Cradock Magistrate's Court on June 9, for charges of robbery,” said Mawisa.
“He remained in custody and appeared in court several times.”
Mawisa said he was transferred to the Cradock Regional Court on November 30, where he was found guilty.
"Zenzile was sentenced and convicted on December 1, to 15 years' imprisonment for robbery,” said Mawisa.
Adolph commended Eyssen for her dedication and commitment in securing the conviction.
