Swift police investigation led to the speedy arrest of a suspect who allegedly broke into a house and injured an 84-year-old woman on a farm just outside Willowmore on April 14.
According to police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa, it is alleged that at about 06:30 on April 14, the elderly woman heard noises on her roof.
She further said that when the woman went to investigate, she found an unknown man in the kitchen.
“The woman was pushed onto the floor where she sustained injuries,” said Mawisa.
She said that the suspect cut off the telephone cables and left the house with an undisclosed amount of cash.
“At about 18:00, the woman’s daughter found her still lying on the floor,” said Mawisa.
She said that a case of house robbery was opened for investigation.
Finally on April 15, one day after the incident occurred, Mawisa said that police arrested the suspect at De Rust in the Western Cape.
She further said that he is due to appear at Willowmore Magistrate Court on April 18.
