In light of the escalating challenges brought about by the increasing cost of living, Kouga Municipality has over the past week facilitated the delivery of one ton of fresh vegetables to various soup kitchens across the Kouga region, aiming at alleviating food insecurity among residents.
This effort is part of a larger mayoral initiative, generously supported by the farm Wildeklawer in Barkly West, owned by Louis de Kock and his wife, Cora.
The initiative, spearheaded by Kouga executive mayor, Hattingh Bornman, reflects an unwavering commitment to community well-being. It underscores a community-centric approach in supporting residents grappling with economic hardship.

According to Bornman, the partnership with Wildeklawer highlights the collaborative efforts among private entities to address community needs and enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
The municipality extends its heartfelt gratitude to Wildeklawer for their generous donation and their caring commitment to the Kouga community.
“We look forward to the ongoing collaboration with Wildeklawer in the coming months, contributing more vegetables to residents facing hardships,” said Bornman.
