On Thursday, November 16, the Rainbow Skills Centre in Humansdorp celebrated their graduating class of 2023.

With this being their second annual graduation, in conjunction with ACS Academy, six learners from Rainbow Skills Centre received their certificates, along with other learners from different programmes.

This programme specifically centres on young people with learning, physical or mental disabilities, where they can receive training in life and work skills. The skills that were developed during this year were plant production, needlework, crafts and crochet, as well as catering and hospitality.

“It is incredible to see the hope rise in young people, especially those with disabilities, when they find a place that empowers them to reach their full potential. It’s through these amazing young people that we’ll see changed communities,” says Maxie Kamalski, the resource developer from Victory4All.

The mission of this programme is to ensure that people with disabilities will be able to access the workforce, and be able to earn a living and gain independence.

The team from Victory4All, the organisation where the Rainbow Skills Centre programme originated, says,

We believe that good education is essential to escape future poverty. That’s why we want to invest good education in a safe environment into children from a young age.

The graduation ceremony focused on celebrating each learner and their own specific achievements, creating a sense of welcoming in their midst. There were various other celebration awards also given to the participants.
