A joint effort by Crime Intelligence, the Tactical Response Team, and SAPS Jeffreys Bay police members, a 28-year-old murder suspect was arrested within a few hours after a murder took place on February 23.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Marius McCarthy, it is alleged that at about 10:00, the suspect entered the yard of a house in Ocean View in Jeffrey’s Bay where the victim and two men were standing at the back of the house engaged in a conversation.
He said that the suspect who is known to them, pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the victim.
“As they ran, shots were fired, hitting the deceased,” said McCarthy.
He said that immediately after the incident, a search was launched for the suspect, and at about 13:20, he was arrested at a farmhouse in the area.
“A 9mm pistol with rounds was also confiscated,” said McCarthy.
He said that the suspect will appear before the Humansdorp Magistrate Court on February 26, on a charge of murder, possession of a prohibited firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition.
