Three teenagers fatally shot in Port St Johns, three more injured

Police in Port St Johns are on the hunt for suspects allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of three teenagers on Friday night, 14 October.

According to Col Priscilla Naidu, police spokesperson, it is alleged that at about 19:10 police were attending to another complaint at Qhubuswayo locality Majola A/A when they heard the sound of gunfire.

"They immediately drove in that direction and saw some men running. They chased after them but they managed to escape," Naidu said. 

On further investigation, they found the bodies of three teenagers (two boys and one girl), aged between 17 and 18-years old, lying nearby.

"Another three persons (ages unknown) were also found injured with gunshot wounds. They were taken to the local hospital for treatment.

"At this stage, the circumstances surrounding the incident is under investigation. Police are investigating three cases of murder and three cases of attempted murder."

Police are appealing to anyone who can assist in the investigation or may know the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the detective Commander at SAPS Port St Johns, D/Lt Col Mandla Miya on 082 779 7259 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station.

"All information is confidential and callers may remain anonymous."
