Gqberha police arrested three alleged business robbery suspects and recovered two firearms with ammunition and suspected stolen goods in New Brighton yesterday, December 8.

According to police spokesperson, Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, it is alleged that at approximately 11:00 yesterday, December 8, at a clothing store at a shopping centre in Bluewater Bay, three armed suspects entered the shop, demanded cell phones and fled with a bag that was filled with cell phones.

"The suspects fled in a white VW Golf.

"No one was injured, and no shots were fired during the robbery," she said.

"After the robbery, SAPS Gqeberha Flying Squad members followed up on information at a house at the corners of Madala and Jabavu Street, New Brighton.

"One suspect noticed the SAPS members, jumped over the wall and fled," she added.

"Three suspects aged between 34 and 63 years old were arrested inside the house. During the search of the property, the members recovered the bag with cell phones, 2 x air time machines and two firearms (serial number filed off) with ammunition."

All the suspects were detained on charges of Business robbery and being in possession of prohibited firearms, and illegal possession of ammunition.
