A 23-year-old man was arrested this morning, October 19, by SAPS Cradock K9 members after he failed to pay for his diesel fuel at The Windfarm petrol station on the N2 in Gqeberha.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, it is alleged that at approximately 04:22 on October 19, the suspect filled his white Mercedes Benz 250E with diesel at The Windfarm petrol station.
She said that while the attendant was getting the card machine the suspect drove off without paying for the diesel.
Janse Van Rensburg said that the information regarding the motor vehicle was then circulated.
“The Cradock K9 members received information and while patrolling the area the members found the suspect with the vehicle in Frere Street, Cradock,” said Janse Van Rensburg.
She said that he was arrested on charges of theft and detained in Cradock.
“The vehicle was impounded, and the suspect is expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate Court soon,” said Janse Van Rensburg.
