Lyle Combrinck, a beloved resident of Cheshire Home Summerstrand, could not wait to “get the show on the road” when he received his brand new wheelchair from CE Mobility.
Lyle, who used an electric wheelchair, was in desperate need of a wheelchair with more head and body support and could not contain his excitement when he received his new adapted wheelchair.
PE Express previously reported on the efforts from Ian Moore when he tackled the mountain bike event of The Herald Cycle Tour in Addo recently, to raise funds for Lyle’s new wheelchair, as well as ongoing physiotherapy.
Lyle, born on March 31, 1972, was only three years old when he was diagnosed with Encephalitis. After a long stay in hospital, he had lost all of his senses, except his hearing.
The new, adapted wheelchair can be changed into a recliner, and it supports his whole body.
The fundraising was obtained from various avenues and the team in charge of his fundraising thanked everyone who donated in any form possible, and saw that Lyle could call his new wheelchair “Toyota”.
Lyle is still in need of physiotherapy, and the fundraising target is R100 000.
